Thanks to our computer genius Kelly who has graciously posted this webvine to keep us all updated. I hope that this site is used not only for updates on health but on all the other fun activities we wish to share. I will continue to keep everyone posted on the details, happenings and changes with my mom - our dearest Patsy. Through this website - she will be at ease knowing the information is being shared with those who mean the most to her. Emails are always appreciated to Patsy's house whereas phone calls can be a tad overwhelming.
First of all, Rick is pissed that she couldn't pick a warmer time of the year to get sick! His light winter jacket didn't suffice today as we ventured off to the Tom Baker Cancer Clinic at 7:30 a.m. - had to arrive early for our 9:30 appt because Nan said so (or was that Dad). After the initial tests we all walked into the Cancer Clinic expecting the worst news but to our surprise we were greeted with a "flamboyant" Dr. Chiu. He was dressed in stripes and plaids - couldn't help but notice. He examined Mom with a flick of his wrist and said ok this is what we are going to do. Mom starts her chemo and radiation treatments next week. The small cell cancer is located mostly in her left lung. This type of cancer is inoperable hence the chemo and radiation treatment. She will have two treatments next week then a rest period. She will return on Jan 27 for her second cycle. Mom will have a bone scan on Friday Jan 2 to see if the cancer has spread to her bones and a future MRI of the brain for the same reason. Mom's spirits are up and she truly did have one of the best Christmas's ever. We all love her very much and Clarabelle and Charly (we have named the cancer masses) really don't know who they are messing with - the combination of Maddison and O'Hara is a force to be reckoned with. Should I think of any other information which was gained today - I will continue to post! Please share this website with other family members and with other friends - Lord knows interesting events can be read about here! All our love is sent to our family this New Year and please continue to send your strength to our Patsy!
Love Jacquie
